Long overdue ramble

I'm going to do a post about my current thoughts, struggles and observations about the faith, but until I have internet at home (August 4), ramble!

  1. Finally moved and settled in. Still doesn't feel real, but I'm glad it's over. Dave Ramsey would be proud.
  2. Let's see how long we can ignore each other, shall we?
  3. Don't sweat the small stuff? Tell them that...
  4. Going to a wedding in a few weeks. Booked the hotel today! Owwww!
  5. GSU v SSU! Is it September 4th yet?
  6. Speaking of sports--I've become an ESPN Radio junkie. Who woulda thunk it?
  7. It's hot down here. It's SOOOO hot. It's heat that angers you. Like 85 degrees after the sun goes down. GRRRRR.
  8. The Goos and I played racquetball twice this week. My RAC fee at work.
  9. Risk. It's the difference between the Haves and the Havenots...well...that and money. Think it's time for me to take a few.
  10. I went to the SCAD page and got slightly depressed, overwhelmed, intimidated. Sometimes I want a do-over...LOVED my college experience, LOVE my Eagles, but yeah...just sayin'
  11. Salt was a C. Inception was an A.
  12. Finally finished reading Strange Fruit and a few critical essays/articles on Richard Wright's Black Boy. Strange Fruit is a fantastic read! Run to your local library and work it out!
  13. Speaking of Strange Fruit, here's Billie Holiday singing Strange Fruit.
  14. Saw an old classmate today at Wal-Mart. G mentioned something about our 10 year reunion. She commented quickly about not going...He wanted to know why. I interrupted him and said, "She just doesn't want to go." Later for the whiny stories about what people did to you when we were all kids...stay home then. BUT more on this later. Can't front like I'm not a little iffy myself...maybe for other reasons, but iffy nonetheless.
  15. It's my blog and I'll cry if I want to...
  16. *poof*

2/9/2010 Ramble

  1. Last day of "water only" is today! Going to drink a Coke for breakfast. Woop Woop!
  2. The GMAT class I've been waiting to take for a month or so is canceled. Closed door or opened door?
  3. Hoping to update my portfolio in the next few months. Excited.
  4. The "no fried foods" thing is going to be more difficult than water only.
  5. Rethinking some stuff.
  6. Warren almost got scammed by some con artists pretending to be Sprint today! They called and said we owed $____ on our phone bill and that service would be discontinued in 48 hours if he didn't pay. They wanted his zip code and card number. Only problem is we JUST paid our bill IN FULL like 2 weeks ago. Do not fall for this!
  7. The loc maintenance side hustle is going well. I really like my current client. Looking to expand soon.
  8. Going to a wedding next month. So excited :-)

Brain Dump

So many things to say, related, yet unrelated.

To begin, we found a house that we are very interested in buying. I never mentioned that we were looking because I'm secretive like that. *ha* Our current lease does not end until July 22 but we'd like to find someone to sublease the house so we can move forward with an offer.

Stepping back into a classroom for the first time in five years on Tuesday. I think, for the time being, that it's a good idea to proceed with classes. Standing still and pulling my hair out about the future will do nothing more than leave me in the same place with a pile of locs at my feet. Gotta move forward. Been standing still long enough. I spent about 40 minutes planning three different educational routes for myself in case something happens (like another bout of indecisiveness). I have my class schedule planned out through next summer....Destination--MBA.

Warren and I met a friend on Friday night to discuss future ministry plans. I was super encouraged after speaking with him. We parted ways and walked out to our car and I literally felt refreshed. We discussed our friend's goals to get a cross cultural church plant started in the metro Atlanta area. Can't get into too many details, but I was elated to hear the way the Lord is clearing a path for this thing to get off the ground.

Working on a few things from my list of 101 things. For 11 days, I've abstained from all my favorite drinks. No Coca Cola, no coffee. Just water...That knocks out #1. I begin my "no fried foods" on February 1. I'm also working on my "side hustle." Began a set of locs on Saturday. I really want to work on my technique for starting locs. Too much of a perfectionist. Took 7 hours to complete her hair. The parts are perfect and aside from one or two edge locs, they are all the same exact size. We scheduled her next appointment for the first weekend in February. I'm determined to get her touch up down to 2.5 hours (totally doable). That's three things in the works...

Trying to see if I can get volunteering back on the schedule this spring. I was working with a GED prep program in the fall, but I don't want to overwhelm myself with work, school, home life, etc. Noon prayer (group) is back for Wednesday afternoons. Never should have been out. Ahhh...I'm done.

Mo' Stuff

  1. Visited little brother and his wife this past weekend. He's home on R&R from Afghanistan.
  2. Totally in love with the Fashion Bananas blog.
  3. I need this dress.
  4. Speaking of fashion and dresses, went shopping in my aunt's closet this weekend. She has TONS of clothes and at least 100 pairs of shoes. Walked away with a new pair of black patent leather pumps, 4 pairs of slacks, 2 new dresses, 2 vests, a jean jacket, a jean suit (kinda iffy on this but it's cute) and at least 20-30 tops. She saved me at least $400-$500. Love you auntie!
  5. Haven't been home since Friday morning. Can't wait to see my dogs, sleep in my bed and cuddle up with my husband.
  6. Gearing up for Spring interviews. Excited to meet and interview new kids.
  7. Found out their offering an alternative to Intro to Java Programming that is more suited for peeps like me...Praise the Lord.
  8. Wondering if my uncle will think about our nearly 5 hour talk on God, Christianity and the gospel. We've had it several times before. I pray the Lord gives him a heart of flesh.
  9. Couldn't be more unimpressed with Make Up Forever HD Foundation...No good for oily girls with problem skin...MIGHT try the Matte Foundation.
  10. Starting to understand that SAP Cerification is a golden ticket. I've gotta have it.
